After testosterone, Decand or Nandrolone Decanoate is perhaps the second best known of injectable anabolic steroids. We see, as not only newcomers, but also those who have experience with steroid cycles, believe that for optimal results should include Deca. The truth is that to increase muscle, this steroid achieves the same as other injectable steroids.
Nandrolone or 19-nortestosterone, as it is also known, is the true cause of the exceptional properties of Deca Durabolin. And one of its main advantages, when compared to testosterone, is that its conversion to estrogen is minimal.
Initially, nandrolone and testosterone were the only affordable and widely available injectable pharmaceuticals for bodybuilders. Then there was no estrogen control. That is why the low aromatization of the Deca was very useful. From there comes its great popularity.
Another benefit of Deca Durabolin is that its side effects on the skin and scalp are mild, since the action of the 5-alpha reductase enzyme reduces the potency of nandrolone, while other anabolic steroids do not are affected by this enzyme. As for testosterone, its potency is accentuated by it.
In addition, in many cases the use of Deca in a steroid cycle can help athletes suffering from joint problems. Up to doses of only 100 mg a week may be more than enough for that purpose.
Unfortunately, when the doses of Deca Durabolin are between 200-400 mg per week or when taken alone at any effective dose, the drug causes adverse side effects such as; interfere with the recovery of the natural production of testosterone after a steroid cycle, in addition to decreasing erectile function and libido or causing depression. These effects are aggravated if the Deca is not combined with testosterone or with important doses of more androgenic compounds such as trenbolone, Masteron or Dianabol. As in all, the individual reactions are very varied when it comes to libido and erectile function.
For the reasons stated above, I do not advise the use of Deca Durabolin unless the athlete seeks relief from the joints in this compound and knows the consequences of adverse side effects. It is preferable that the use of Deca is as low as effective for joint problems, and that the bulk of the total dose of steroids comes from other compounds.
The long half-life of this drug entails a slow elimination. So the Durabolin Deca is not suitable for short cycles or the possibility of anti-doping tests. It is also not recommended for women because of their virilization effect per milligram as with most anabolic steroids except testosterone, and because of its slow elimination in case of adverse effects.
